About

Several years ago, a friend, fellow OSU alum, superb drummer, sought-after teacher, well respected central Ohio business owner, and all around good guy Jim Rupp handed me a stack of two- or three-dozen CDs and said —

Here — you’ll like these.

Jim Rupp, c.a. 2010

He was right.

The CDs contained a collection of classic interviews with Mel Lewis by jazz historian and educator Loren Schoenberg.

For years, I’ve hosted these on my Skidmore site. I’m moving from Skidmore to the Rochester Institute of Technology as of January 1, 2020. So I figured I ought to move them…

That means things are in a wee bit of disarray right now. Just a quick WordPress site, nothing fabulous.

Only the first four of eight shows are ‘cut up’ and sequenced, cleaned up, and labeled. I haven’t had time to do the last four but I keep planning on it. Watch this space.

If you use/like/listen to these, please let me know. While you’re at it, let Jim know too.
